Karl H. Muehling leads the plant nutrition research group at Kiel University with focus on plant-soil interactions in agricultural systems at the interface of ecology, plant production and molecular plant biology, special interest in nutritional physiology of crop plants and soil fertility.

  • Localization and signalling of ions in the leaf apoplast, plant response to nutrient stresses, nutrient use efficiency, proteomics of crops under abiotic stress, plant quality with special reference to secondary plant components, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulphur dynamics in soils after organic fertilization
